‘Breaking News’ brought to you by ‘The Times of Ants’

just plain and simple logo

I go to a park near my house for walks. There is a paved walkway that I use. Very often I notice a colony of ants in some parts of the footpath. They seem busy running around and carrying out their chores/activities. I step aside onto the grass to avoid stepping on the ants, lest they face a man-caused disaster.

A few days back Delhi (and many parts of India) had very heavy rains. Several areas of the city were water logged. Next morning when I went for a walk, the colony of ants was not there.

When I switched on the TV after getting back home, there was Breaking News of severe floods in the Himalayan region of Uttarakhand. Several lives were lost. Human bodies got swept away as water rushed downstream with huge boulders. Houses and buildings collapsed and were washed away ….. several of them were precariously constructed and cluttered along the riverside.

Environmental balance had been disturbed; deforestation was another factor.

‘Natural Disaster; Man-made Damage’ ….. said the Headlines.

The ants had not constructed precarious concrete structures disturbing their ecosystem. ‘Natural disaster’ had however struck with equal intensity for both ants and man.

‘Super wise’ man, endowed with ‘intellect’ and ‘free will’ by God, had constructed ‘blister like’ concrete structures and made deforestation led ‘rashes’ on the bosom of ‘Mother Nature’, disturbing the ecosystem that led to such ‘Man-made Damage’.

The ants escaped ‘Ant-made Damage’ and are back to their busy routine. Man is still struggling to overcome ‘Man-made Damage’ …..

Are man’s intellect and free will really an advantage over other species ?? Are they really helping in ‘development’ and ‘betterment’ ?? Is man really using them beneficially ?? Or are ants better off !?

Wish man was wise enough to understand the implications ….. Some day a newspaper called ‘The Times of Ants’ will probably carry a story about the discovery of an extinct species called ‘Human Beings’.

An article analysed, fully researched and excellenly written. No doubt that animal kingdom is more disciplined and organised than humans. The latter have many things to learn from the former.

In this instant article, probably ants understands that it will be wise to start the life again as they have very limited life span and probably they understand the importance of time better than us.

Every single creature respects and follows the laws of nature, except human beings… really we just feel that we can get away with anything.

Only if we all understood and respected the nature’s balance. Surprisingly, on one of the news channels, one ‘devotee’ to Kedarnath stated she lost faith in God as she lost a family member. Wonder who did the family go to, Siva is both the creator and destroyer, so how can somebody lose faith in the same God you go to pray?
